Puppy Pics - Day 9

I just received a new email from Gail, the breeder, and she sent some this picture along with the update. The puppies are now 9 days old and it seems like I can tell they've grown from one pic to the next. Gail said they have the routine of any baby...eat, go to the bathroom, sleep, repeat. She also said that the mom is doing really well and eating A LOT. The dogs "squeak" every time Gail touches them for some reason, I am sure this is normal or she would have said that it was not. Apparently the puppies are not very active right now, but will become more active after their eyes open.

Half Brother and Sister

Thunder - this is a dog we got to meet several weeks ago. There is a couple here in Lubbock that has a male and a female Rottweiler from the same breeder we plan to get our puppy from. This is their male, Thunder, all 135 pounds of him. It was amazing to see a dog that big. When we began to look at getting a Rottweiler, Gail (the breeder) told us that her males grew to about 125 - 130 lbs. Hilary and I were 99% sure that we wanted a male. When Gail told us this, we weren't sure what 125 lbs. of dog looked like. It isn't something you see all the time. This is what it looks like, and in fine form. Thunder had such great breed conformation that Gail wanted to breed him. He is a GREAT dog. He was very well-mannered when we visited and is spoiled COMPLETELY rotten. We were very glad that Gail had a reference here in Lubbock. The couple was VERY hospitable, we contacted them and asked if we could buy them dinner to discuss their dogs. They refused dinner, saying that we just had to come meet the dogs. Hilary and I had no problem with that at all. We went over to their house several weeks ago and if we had any doubt in our mind before then, it was all removed by the end of our visit. Especially since we found out that both their dogs had the same Dad that our puppy would, Dallas.
It was really funny that their female, Daizsha, (pictured to the left) was camera shy. When they first told us this, I didn't believe them. This is one of the 2 pics we got of Daizsha We were there for a couple of hours. After Hilary shot the first 2 pics of her, Daizsha bolted and didn't come back again without some serious coaxing. The picture to the left is her playing with the toy we brought her. It was a rope toy with 2 tennis balls attached. Daizsha had destroyed it in a matter of seconds. Hilary and I have a little to learn about buying toys for a Rottweiler. Daizsha was a also very sweet and I could not get over the fact that she was the only dog I have ever met that truly was camera shy. We had a great visit with this couple and their dogs were beautiful and VERY well-behaved.

More of Bandit

Funny pic of Bandit - I took this picture last night. He was chewing on a rawhide bone and when I called him he looked up at me like this. I thought he looked like one of those post cards of the dogs with the HUGE noses.

No more tails

I just got the pic above from Gail, the breeder. No more tails. They had the vet come yesterday to remove the tails. They look kinda funny without them.

Amy

This is Hilary trying to get Amy, the mom of our puppy, to cooperate for a picture. This was also taken when we visited the breeders in Alvarado, it's near Fort Worth. She was about 2 weeks from having puppies here. She was such a sweetheart. Gail and Ray (the breeders) don't keep all the dogs inside, but I think all the mothers that are about to have pups must stay inside so they can watch them. The stairs we took the pictures on were inside their house and Gail takes pictures of EVERY person/couple that gets a dog from her on these stairs. Amy acted like she had done it 100 times, she walked up and the plopped down like "OK, I'm ready".

Dallas

Dallas - the daddy of our puppy. About 2 weeks ago, Hilary and I went to Alvarado and got to meet all the dogs that Gail, the breeder, and her husband Ray have. Dallas was so sweet, all of them were like big teddy bears.

Bandito

Bandit - playing with Bobo. He got it for Christmas and has not stopped playing with it.

6 boys - 1 day old

These are the six boys, only a day old.

30 min old female

This is one of the females when she is only 30 minutes old. I think the blue thing around her neck is a makeshift collar I guess. Gail, the breeder, uses this as a way to give them a name until their new owners pick them up.

6 little boys

These are the six males from our litter. One of them is our puppy, we're not sure which one yet.

2 girls - 4 days old

These are 2 of the females from our litter.

Amy - the mom

This is Amy, the mom. She had 9 pups. 6 males and 3 females.

New pics of the puppy litter

I got an email today from the breeder we are planning to get our Rottweiler puppy from. She sent some new pics of the litter and also said that today was the day they lost their tails =(.
